Wear Her a Uniform
This campaign is geared towards female teenagers who have dropped out of school due to pregnancy, financial difficulty and other reasons. The driving initiative behind this campaign is to prove to society that no matter the situations that led to teenage pregnancy, they are equally deserving of quality education for a bright future for them, their children and their society as a whole.
Why Pregnant Teenagers and Teenage mothers?
Female teenagers in Ghana face significant barriers to completing their education, with many dropping out of school altogether. These barriers are compounded for pregnant female teenagers, who face even greater challenges.
The reasons for dropping out of school vary, but common factors include poverty, early marriage, cultural expectations, lack of access to health
care and sexual education, and gender-based violence. For pregnant teenagers, additional factors such as stigma, discrimination, and limited access to reproductive health services contribute to their decision to drop out.
The consequences of dropping out of school are severe, including reduced earning potential, increased vulnerability to exploitation and abuse, and
limited opportunities for personal and professional growth. To address these challenges, it is essential to promote policies and programs that support girls’ education, including access to sexual education and reproductive health services, advocacy against early marriage, and gender-based violence prevention initiatives.
By investing in education for girls and pregnant teenagers, Ghana can improve the economic and social outcomes for these young women and
contribute to broader national development goals.
